Tour Palcoyo

The Palcoyo site is an impressive destination located in the province of Canchis, near the famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). Palcoyo is a less-visited site but offers spectacular views of colorful rock formations and unique Andean landscapes, similar to those of Vinicunca. However, what makes Palcoyo special is its more peaceful environment and less crowded nature, providing a more relaxed experience for travelers seeking to escape the crowds.

This site is known for its colorful mountains, similar to Rainbow Mountain, but with easier access and without the strenuous hike required at Vinicunca. Additionally, travelers will enjoy beautiful landscapes, witness local life, and explore the natural surroundings of the region.

Itinerary

Palcoyo Tour Itinerary (Full Day):

6:30 am – Pick-up from the hotel:

The tour starts with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco at around 6:30 am. Travelers will board a comfortable vehicle to begin the journey to the Palcoyo site, located about 3 hours from Cusco.

9:30 am – Arrival at Palcoyo:

Upon arrival, travelers will enjoy a tour of the area, observing the rock formations and colorful mountains. The walk to the viewpoint is relatively easy and accessible, making this site ideal for those who prefer a less strenuous hike. During the tour, the guide will explain the geology and the origin of the colors in the mountains, as well as the historical and cultural importance of the region.

11:00 am – Exploration and Photos:

Travelers will have time to explore the area, walk up to the viewpoint, and take spectacular photos of the colorful mountains and the surrounding landscape. The guide will also explain about local life and how nearby communities maintain their traditions in this remote environment.

12:30 pm – Traditional Lunch:

After the visit, the group will enjoy a traditional Andean lunch, which may include fried guinea pig (cuy chactado), pachamanca (earth-cooked feast), quinoa soup, or roast chicken, depending on the season and local customs. The lunch will be served in a nearby community, offering the opportunity to experience the local hospitality.

2:00 pm – Free Time to Explore or Rest:

After lunch, travelers will have free time to explore the area more or relax before heading back to Cusco. During this time, you may interact with locals or take a walk through the surroundings.

3:30 pm – Return to Cusco:

After a day full of exploration, the group will return to Cusco in the private vehicle, with an estimated arrival time around 6:30 pm.
